Early in the spring we had a warm day. My husband's sisters were visiting and we decided to take a walk in the woods and go to the falls. Some of the trees were just budding and the sun light stretched at an angle sparkling on the water and accenting the bright green moss on the cliffs and rocks. It was such a joy after a long winter to have this experience. This vision needed to be painted.
It was a challenge to try and capture all that I saw that day and not make the painting look too busy. There was so much to describe; the cliffs, water coming down the different steps of the falls, the change of color of the water, the sun bouncing off the surfaces. Then there was also this great pool of water, Liquid Gold, came to mind.
